Alan Liang is a first year currently attending the University of California, Irvine and plans to major in Economy in the year 2011. Mr. Liang’s hometown is in Fremont, CA where his mother, sister, and dog reside. He enjoys snowboarding with his friends and also playing badminton on his free time. Mr. Liang is very passionate about food, particularly Japanese and Korean food. On his free time, Mr. Liang reads and plays games on his computer. His favorite book is Tuesdays With Morrie, by Mitch Albom due to its various views on life.
At UC Irvine, Mr. Liang has currently taken math and writing classes. Although he has not yet taken any economy classes, Mr. Liang will take them in the future, along with management and accounting classes. Outside of school, Mr. Liang is in a badminton club and plays competitively between team members and with other schools in the area. Mr. Liang does not have much work
experience which only comes from one job when he was a senior in high school. He worked for a math tutoring company called MPM which helps kids from K-6 improve their math capabilities with extra class work and homework aside from school. Mr. Liang worked as an assistant by correcting the students’ work and also keeping kids from fooling around in class.
Mr. Liang is an active member in Sigma Beta Iota since January 26, 2008 and works in the community service committee. Mr. Liang makes a huge effort to attend all the community service and professional events that are hosted by Sigma Beta Iota and has only missed one event since joining. Mr. Liang feels that Sigma Beta Iota is a very welcoming colony that understands the importance of being professional. Since he joined the colony, Mr. Liang has seen the colony on both a professional aspect and a brotherly aspect. From his short time in the colony, Mr. Liang has already made very close bonds with many members in the colony. There is a huge potential for the colony because of their determination and dedication to complete the tasks that were assigned to them so that the colony can finally be associated with Delta Sigma Pi.
Although he is still unsure of his future, Mr. Liang intends to go to graduate school after college. He is applying for an internship with Capital Group to obtain more knowledge and experience in investment banking. Mr. Liang does not know what his long term career goals are yet. Since Mr. Liang is still a first year in college, the future is still hazy; however, he is still aware of different career opportunities and is working on discovering his future career goals. The professional events that are hosted by Sigma Beta Iota help him be informed on the many different occupations that are in the workforce, and help him network with recruiters from different companies. Sigma Beta Iota has become a big part of Mr. Liang’s life and he enjoys every second of it, from the brothers to the professional events, Mr. Liang considers it time well spent.
