Apoorva More has spent the first eleven years of her life in Bombay, India. Her immigration and her first year in America was challenging but she has overcome her difficulties and tried her best to excel academically. Currently, she is a junior with a major in Economics and a minor in Accounting. She is currently a student under the Campuswide Honors Program and a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society. She intends to graduate in Spring of 2011. As a Business Economics major, Ms. More has kept her career options open. She is interested in accounting, finance and business. She has held the position of a Finance Intern at the Laguna Hills Merrill Lynch branch. She has assisted the senior financial advisor and the wealth management advisor with client reports and financial statements. By working with these advisors, she has learned aspects of the financial world while developing professional skills. In the past, Ms. More was the treasurer in the non-profit charity club Anteaters Against Autoimmunity--a club founded to raise money and help children and adults suffering with autoimmune diseases such as Lupus. She helped keep detailed records of all finances and assisted in making financial decisions. Since 2006, Ms. More has worked as a private tutor and has tutored High School students in subjects such as literature and mathematics. As a brother in the prestigious Professional Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi, Ms. More greatly admires and respects the professionalism and the brotherhood. She currently holds the position of Vice President of Finance. As a VP of Finance, she maintains accuracy while maintaining all records of reimbursements, dues, expenses and allocation of chapter funds. Ms. More holds great interest in creative fields such as art, literature and films. She greatly respects the artists and the artistic elements found in the environment. She enjoys sketching, painting, photography, and refurbishing furniture. During her senior year of high school, Apoorva More successfully completed a studio art portfolio with a concentration in depicting trees and its life forms. Apart from art, she spends her free time reading Pablo Neruda poetry and blogging. She greatly enjoys watching foreign films. Few of her favorite films include Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Manhattan, Volver, À la folie... pas du tout and films by Woody Allen. She hopes to further learn Spanish and begin learning French. One day, she hopes she has the good fortune to travel the world and learn about new things while taking upon new adventures. In the future, Ms. More plans obtaining the Certified Public Accountant license and working in one of the Big 4 accounting firms. |
