Christina Pao

Christina Pao is currently a third year Business Economics major at the University of California, Irvine.  Having taken almost all the required courses for the major, Ms. Pao is currently exploring different subjects in hopes of taking on a minor or second major.  Her expected graduation is in June of 2011.  Growing up in a family filled with business majors, Ms. Pao had already committed to being a business major before even reaching college.  She believes the major to be practical and useful for any job she obtains in the future. Prior to college, Ms. Pao attended Mission San Jose High school, which is located in Fremont, California.  Having never lived anywhere other than Fremont, Ms. Pao desired a change in environment and opted for a college in southern California where she could learn to be a more independent individual.  After much deliberation, she chose Irvine and has not once regretted her decision.

As a freshman, Ms. Pao was greeted with a large variety of clubs and organizations.  She became a member of Chinese Association, but was not able to participate much since she focused more on adjusting and settling in the college life.  However, as sophomore year rolled around, she felt that she needed to be more involved in campus activities.  She debated about joining different clubs and even considered different sororities, but ended up feeling that taking part in a solely social organization would not be the best road for her.  She heard about Delta Sigma Pi from friends and after much deliberation, thought it would be a good idea to join a fraternity relating to her studies.  Ms. Pao became an official member in spring of 2009 and took on the position of Director of Fundraising.  From this position, she improved her leadership, planning, and public speaking skills.  Her tasks included planning different events to help the chapter raise money.

Since entering college, Ms. Pao has had two jobs.  The first was during the summer of freshman year, where she worked at FIT Bearings, Inc.  located in Fremont, California.  She had tasks involving working on Microsoft Excel, taking notes during conference meetings, and updating inventory in the company database.  Currently, Ms. Pao is working as an intern for Sageview Advisory Group, which is a financial consulting firm.  Although she recently received this job in winter of 2009, Ms. Pao feels very fortunate that she is able to work in this firm with such great people.  After graduation, Ms. Pao would like to work in the financial field although she is still unsure of whether she would like to work in northern or southern California.

In her free time, Ms. Pao likes relaxing by reading books and watching movies.  Her favorite television show of all time is “FRIENDS”, but has recently been addicted to some shows including “N.C.I.S” and “How I Met Your Mother”.  She also enjoys eating and absolutely loves home-cooked meals.  However, since she is never able to go home much, she is rarely able to eat her mom’s delicious cooking.  Ms. Pao can be described as nice and friendly.  A once shy girl, Ms. Pao has become more outgoing after entering college and never tires of meeting new people.  Ms. Pao wishes to make the most out of her remaining college experience and hopes to achieve a lot in the future with what she learns the from school, work, and fraternity.
