Michael Tam is a Chinese American was born and raised in Monterey Park Ca. He was born in August 17, 1988 and has an older sister that now lives in New York, New York. Michael attended Mark Keppel High School in Alhambra, where he played water polo and swam for four years. At the age of 10 he began SCUBA diving with his father and sister and was certified until he was 14. At around this same age, Michael’s real interests began to take shape. His largest interests are snowboarding and cars, primarily imports but he is appreciative of all motorsports. With his sister and her friends being eight years older than him, he had many things to appreciate and aspire to. As Michael has grown, so has his passion for motorsports. He now owns his own Nissan 240sx and works on it in his spare time with his father and friends. This passion for cars has gone so far that he now wants to work in the automotive field after he graduates from UCI. As far as scholastics and Delta Sigma Pi goes, Michael has had the chance to study abroad in Hong Kong in the fall quarter of his 4th year. He was able to see how one of the premier universities in the world operates and had a glimpse of how international economics works in Hong Kong and China. Even while he was 7,000 miles away from home, Michael still met brother from Delta Sigma Pi while he was abroad, showing the extent of the network of Delta Sigma Pi. Michael’s story of joining this prestigious fraternity is a little different from his fellow brothers. When his sister began college at UCLA, she pledged for Delta Sigma Pi and was in its Delta class. Therefore, Michael had a chance to see the fraternity from a very young age and has had the image of this professional fraternity with such a close brotherly bond. From this, he has joined Delta Sigma Pi to create this bond for himself with his fellow brothers, while also developing his leadership skills. Michael has just recently taken on the shared role of DBSA with Kristy Chu and planned a fraternity retreat to Big Bear Mountain. This has been his first task as DBSA and is only the beginning of planning brotherhood events for the rest of the quarter. |
