Spencer Lee is originally from San Francisco, where he grew up and attended Lowell High School. He entered the University of California, Irvine as a biology major, with the intention of becoming a dentist, but his greater successes in his Economics and Accounting courses during his second year convinced him that pursuing a career in business instead of science was a path better suited for him. After taking several economics courses, Mr. Lee found the Business Economics major to be more relevant and applicable to his everyday life, and therefore far more engaging. He is now a third year Business Economics major and expects to graduate in Spring 2011. Aside from academics, during his first year Mr. Lee involved himself on campus and in the community by becoming part of the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity. As a member for two years, he contributed countless volunteer hours to UC Irvine Medical Center, the March of Dimes health charity, Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement academic development program for pre-college students, and various other organizations. After discovering a new career direction, Mr. Lee decided he could continue helping others, while furthering his own professional goals by becoming part of the Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity. Therefore, he decided to pledge during the fall of 2009 and was initiated during the Epsilon pledge term. Since becoming involved with Delta Sigma Pi, Mr. Lee has been the Fundraising Chair of his pledge class, and now assists the Senior Vice President and Fundraising Chair as a member of both committees. Delta Sigma Pi has been an inspiring and eye opening experience for Mr. Lee. Through the Fraternity he has learned that being a team player is an integral part of being a good leader, and that success requires one to be proactive. What he has enjoyed most are the professional events through which he has had the opportunity to learn about various aspects of the Business industry from working professionals; meeting new people, and spending time with brothers of the Fraternity. In addition to growing with the Fraternity, Mr. Lee plans to expand his work experience. Prior to changing his career goals, he interned for an Assistant Professor at the University of the Pacific Dugoni School of Dentistry, and worked as an office assistant at a dental office. He later assumed a sales position at Banana Republic and more recently was a management trainee at Enterprise, where he drove rental sales, marketed to local accounts, and generated branch and employee performance reports for upper management. Having had substantial experience in sales, Mr. Lee would like to gain more experience in other sectors of business including finance, investments, wealth management, and consulting. He hopes to do this by seeking internships in those fields. Upon graduation, Mr. Lee hopes to work for a financial firm or go to law school. Besides school and work, Mr. Lee’s other interests are cars, food, movies, financial news, staying active, traveling, and learning to play the guitar. |
