Joyce Ma is currently a second year pursuing a major in Business Economics and minors in Sociology and Management. Although, she plans to work in the marketing and advertising industry in the future, her ultimate dream job would be a wedding planner. She wants to become a wedding planner because it is a fast-paced job that also has the benefit of being part of each customer’s important day; and to successful execute each important day is a rewarding feeling. Joyce chooses her academics as her number one priority but is also involved in many activities on and off campus. She is currently a board member for the American Marketing Association, which unveils the world of marketing to all students on campus. Through this position, she has learned to network and communicate in many different ways. Joyce is also a film intern for ASUCI, which puts on free movies for the students on campus. From ASUCI, she has learned that UCI can be an amazing campus with amazing opportunities. Off campus, Joyce has interned as a financial advisor trainee at Crystal Cove Wealth Management. This internship has opened up a pre-untouched career path that involves the finance industry. Last but not least, Joyce is the Director of Marketing for Delta Sigma Pi. As this position, she has to spread the word of Delta Sigma Pi events and increase campus awareness of the fraternity.

      One word to describe Joyce is definitely optimistic. She always looks at situations with a half-glass full attitude and hopes to make the world a happier place. Joyce loves to go to Disneyland and is now a proud owner of the Annual Pass. One can usually find her screaming her lungs out on Space Mountain or gobbling down a huge turkey leg on Friday nights. Joyce also loves to spend time with her friends and family and believes that quality time is the most treasured time. Her friends and family have been with her through thick and thin, and Joyce truly appreciates their company. She is currently learning how to cook with her new handy cookbook and hopes to invite some guests over for dinner soon. Joyce is a spontaneous person that is always up to create some trouble.

      To Joyce, being successful is finding happiness. Although one can shape one’s life into the molded fairytale, success is not achieved until one is content with everything in one’s life. Joyce sees the process to success as being challenged and charting history. Being challenged is important because the things that she fights for will be more worth it in the future. Hard work really does pay off. Charting history will come Joyce’s way when she believes that she has influenced someone’s life. Joyce knows that everything happens for a reason. There is a meaning in each decision that she makes. Joyce believes that meaning exists in appreciation of the process, the present, or the moment.

      Being part of Delta Sigma Pi has changed and influenced Joyce’s life tremendously. Through the pledging process, she has created bonds that are unbreakable and treasured. She has learned valuable time management that is not only useful now but will also be in the future. Through this experience, she has gone past her limits and strives to learn more about herself and discover what she is capable of.
