Michelle Wong is currently a second year at the University of California, Irvine. She is a business economics major and would like to obtain a minor in management. Michelle has resided in West Covina (of the Los Angeles County) since her childhood and attended West Covina High School. Michelle willingly chose to attend UC Irvine after visiting the campus for the first time and feeling very comfortable in the environment. She feels that this is a great institution for a higher education and is proud to be an anteater. During her first year here at UC Irvine, Michelle resided in Vista-one of the Mesa Court dorms. There, she attended the Mesa Court Leadership Institute (M.C.L.I.) for three quarters and feels that it was one of the best investments she has made during her time at UC Irvine. Aside from being involved with the Mesa Court community during her first year, Michelle was involved with the Chinese Association and Red Cross Club. She was an active member for both of the organizations, participating in the Chinese Association Culture Night performance and High School Outreach program; and also being an active volunteer for the Red Cross Club. Michelle is still currently involved with these two campus organizations. During the summer of 2009, Michelle obtained her first job as a sales associate at the American Eagle Outfitters clothing store in West Covina. She was employed with American Eagle Outfitters until October 2009. Also during the summer of 2009, Michelle volunteered with the Dean of Students Office as a Student Parent Orientation Program (SPOP) staffer at UC Irvine. During this process, Michelle interacted with several individuals from the many aspects of UC Irvine student life and also the incoming freshman class. She was able to welcome the incoming students and get them excited to attend UC Irvine as the school’s newest addition to the anteater family. Michelle feels that being a SPOP staffer has been one of the most rewarding experiences of her lifetime so far. Michelle is unsure of which direction she would like to take with her future, but she is knows that she would like to deal with marketing in her future career. She enjoys working with people, one of the skills she refined while working for American Eagle Outfitters. Michelle pledged Delta Sigma Pi during the fall quarter of 2009 and is part of the Epsilon Class. She feels that the pledging process was difficult, but the bonds that she created with her pledge brothers will be something that will stay with her forever. She is new to the Fraternity as a Brother, but is excited to be a part of such a wonderful organization. Her Big Brother Belyn Lai and Great Great Grand Big Patrick A. Bonfrisco are two of the many people within the Fraternity who she admires very much and cannot wait to spend more time with. When not dealing with Fraternity matters, academics or campus clubs, Michelle enjoys going to Disneyland with her friends. She also enjoys going home to West Covina to hang out with her family and high school friends, shopping, eating and watching television shows such as Glee, Scrubs and The Office. |
