Monica Wong is a junior at the University of California, Irvine. She is majoring in business economics and planning to minor in management. She is expected to graduate in the spring of 2011. Ms. Wong was born on April 29, 1989 in San Francisco, CA. After she was born, she moved to Oakland, CA where she spent many of her elementary years. Following this, she moved to Alameda during middle school. Before going to UCI, Ms. Wong attended high school in Alameda, CA and participated in many extracurricular activities such as leadership and track & field. Currently at the University of California, Irvine, Ms. Wong is taking sixteen units and has completed her breath courses. She has also taken the first series of Mandarin. The business economics major does not require her to learn another language but she believes that this language will be useful in the business world. Ms. Wong began working at a very young age. She first started working as a bus-girl at her parent’s Chinese restaurant in Berkeley, CA. After this, she began working as a tutor at Kumon Math and Reading. Following this, she has worked at Ikea Home Furnishings. There, she worked as a full-time cashier in the summer of 2007. From the fall of 2007 to present, Ms. Wong has other companies such as Gingrich Insurance Company, Northwestern Mutual, Parker Aerospace, and an Accounting Company located in Newport Beach. In the future, Ms. Wong aspires to be an accountant at one of the big four companies. Although she is planning to minor in management, she will continue graduate school in accounting. After college, she hopes to move to New York to begin her career. She aspires to attend graduate school in New York. After that, she will move back to the Bay Area. Ms. Wong has learned a lot from pledging for Delta Sigma Pi. She has grown professionally over the course of her pledging term due to strict and constructive criticism. She believes being able to be apart of Delta Sigma Pi has helped her academically. Being surrounded by a group of people with the same motivation inspires her to work harder to obtain a guarantee future. Delta Sigma Pi also gave Ms. Wong the feeling of brotherhood. Another person will always be willing to lend a hand when trouble arises. By being a brother of Delta Sigma Pi, Ms. Wong continues to learn more skills that will be needed in the professional world. Delta Sigma Pi is definitely a high point in her college career and is glad she stumbled upon it. |
