Lorna Wu is currently a 3rd year Quantitative Economics major and plans to minor in Accounting and Statistics at the University of California, Irvine. When she first entered UC Irvine, she had planned to major in Quantitative Economics and minor in studio art. However, after much deliberation, she decided that she disliked the idea of being graded on her artistic expression. Now art remains a hobby.
In the spring of 2011, Lorna pledged for Delta Sigma Pi and has not regretted her decision since then. The Fraternity has opened her eyes to even more opportunities, and believes this experience to be invaluable. Lorna has held the Director of Fundraising position, and is now the Vice President of Finance. Career-wise, Lorna is interning at DW Investment Group, Inc., a startup company where she hopes to learn more about tax accounting.
On the side, Lorna loves to read, especially fiction novels such as the Harry Potter series, “Airborn”, “Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell”, and “The Alchemist”. It was also her love for Lord of the Rings that made her decision to dorm at Middle Earth during her freshmen year. Although she secretly hoped to be placed into either Isengard or Rivendell, it was not meant to be and she was put into Harrowdale, a land generally consisting of humans and half-elves. Nevertheless, Lorna loved her 1st year at UC Irvine, not only because she was able to “live” in Middle Earth, but also because it allowed her the opportunity to play quidditch. Lorna loves UC Irvine and is grateful for all the opportunities it has offered her thus far.
Lorna’s personal quote is “It doesn’t matter what door you choose, it matters that you choose a door.”
