Armando Callanta

Mr. Armando Callanta, who also goes by “Mando,” is a fifth-year Business Economics Major with a minor in Psychology and Social Behavior at the University of Cailfornia, Irvine. His completed upper-division coursework has enabled him to understand various aspects about business management and finance. Mr. Mando plans on utilizing his major to pursue a career as an accountant or a financial planner, but is still open to other careers as well. Presently, Mr. Mando works for OneTri.com, a niche sporting goods store selling mostly triathlon equipment. He is participating in UCI’s triathlon called Zot Trot and eventually wants to finish a half Ironman. He has gained valuable experience working at OneTri.com and considers his work one of his highest priorities. After college, he wants to continue to go to school and earn another degree, whether it is a MBA or CPA, because he believes in the power of learning and progression as a human being. Eventually, Mr. Mando wants to be able to own a profitable business where he is his own boss and has flexible hours to free up time to concentrate on other life goals such as writing a screenplay and one day go into space.

Mr. Mando was initiated into Delta Sigma Pi during Fall of 2008 and has been actively involved with the Fraternity in many ways. Ever since he began pledging, he has showed dedication and commitment to helping his fellow Brothers in anyway possible. Whether a Brother needs help on homework or a friend to play basketball with, Mr. Mando is willing to sacrifice energy to help a Brother. It is his unselfishness and commitment to Brothers that led Mr. Mando to become President of the Pi Sigma Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi during Fall of 2009. Being in a leadership position has pushed Mr. Mando in several ways and becoming a Delta Sigma Pi Brother has sharpened the necessary organizational and communication skills that are required for being President. He realized that you need to push yourself to do things you never thought you could do. This courage is a key to being successful. Not only was he a part of an exceptional Executive Committee, he also participated in almost all of the community service, professional, national, recruitment, and social events where he got to meet and develop his professional network and have a great time.

A little about Mr. Mando:  he is half Filipino and half Japanese, loves food because it hits all five senses, loves to play basketball and just work out, his favorite channel is ESPN, loves guacamole and can make a mean batch, drives a BMW, and is the only child. Mr. Mando’s Big Bro is Cherry Chen. His little is Christina Pao. Juggling the Fraternity, school, work, family, and friends has improved Mr. Mando’s time management skills but also created a well-balanced lifestyle which he believes is key to happiness and a long life.
