Stacey Chen is currently a fourth year Business Economics major and Accounting minor at University of California, Irvine. She began as an undecided/undeclared student for her first year in college, unsure of what she was passionate about. After taking many, many general education courses, she eventually decided to turn towards business. Before attending UC Irvine, Stacey Chen had spent 18 years in Northern California. She was born and raised in San Jose, California and is the only child in the family.
While in high school, Stacey was involved in community service and academic clubs, as well as playing piano and dancing. She participated in UNICEF, CSF, and other clubs. She also attended a leadership conference for a week and a half in Washington, D.C., in order to experience life outside of San Jose and away from home. Aside from the conference, she joined the National Society of Leadership and Success at UC Irvine as a founding member in Spring quarter of her first year. There she met many others within the social science majors and worked together in training, workshops, and meetings for the quarter, acting as support groups for each other. In the end, she discovered her desire to switch to Business Economics and Accounting.
Stacey wants to be able to become successful and maintain a job that will allow her to support her parents and family that have been there for her all throughout her life. She served on the Executive Committee of Delta Sigma Pi, Pi Sigma Chapter as the Vice President of Chapter Operations for the Summer/Fall term of 2011. Stacey currently works as an Accounting Intern at Quality Systems Inc. (Nextgen Healthcare), a company that develops and markets computer-based practice management and electronic health records solutions for medical and dental practices in the U.S. In October of 2012, she will start full-time work at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Outside of school and work, Stacey always enjoys going out and trying new foods with her friends. Aside from the usual movie watching, boba drinking, and Korean BBQ gorging days, Stacey hopes to fill her time with new activities such as parasailing and kayaking. She also hopes to travel more in her lifetime, whether to Taiwan, Japan, or Europe. She takes pleasure in experiencing different cultures and especially enjoys trying all of the different foods. She loves spontaneous adventures and finds that almost anything will be fun as long as it is with the right company.
