Leanne Tran is a 4th year student studying Business Economics, expecting to graduate June of 2012. Leanne was born in Sydney, Australia. In 2003, she moved to the quaint city of Arcadia, California, and yes she unfortunately lost her accent. This being her last year, Leanne is really trying to find her true passion. Since graduating high school in 2008, she has only had professional experience in the finance field, but is not sure whether this is the route she wants to go, so Leanne is currently trying to branch out, looking into other industries such as Business Development and Market Research.
Currently, Leanne is a Business Development/Marketing intern for Hatch Design Group, a 40-year-old firm that specializes in Hospitality Design.Hatch Design Group’s clientele ranges from Hilton Hotels, Elephant Bar, Lucille’s Smokehouse BBQ, Lazy Dog Café, to Ruby’s Diner. However, before this internship opportunity, Leanne has had a stream of finance internships/jobs. The first job she ever had was during her senior year of high school where she worked at Washington Mutual Bank as its high school intern and eventually became a full-time teller the summer before college started. She also had the opportunity to intern for established finance companies Merrill Lynch and FMV Opinions Inc her second and third year respectively. Also, Leanne had the opportunity to study abroad in Hong Kong at the University of Hong Kong Fall Semester of 2010, and encourages everyone to try this amazing journey of experiencing another culture for a four-month time span. It was really one of the best experiences of her life, meeting an amazing group of friends and getting to travel all over Asia.
Leanne is a member of the Iota class of the Pi Sigma chapter of Delta Sigma Pi and served as Pledge Class Historian. She is currently Director of Career Advancement, encouraging brothers to reflect on their interview experiences and also encouraging brothers to attend Career Fairs to practice talking to recruiters. Delta Sigma Pi has really opened Leanne’s eyes to all the different industries within Business, inspired by all the passionately motivated and driven individuals around her.
Leanne’s enjoyments include avid Youtube watching, eating with friends, karaoking, boba runs, cooking, and traveling. She definitely considers herself a Gleek and K-pop lover. Leanne listens to a variety of music, but has a soft spot for 90’s music. Leanne is also very family-oriented. Before joining Delta Sigma Pi, she would go home to Arcadia almost every weekend to spend time with her family. She looks up to her mother as a role model and hopes to set a good example for her little sister who is nine years younger than her. Leanne really believes in an opportunistic mindset, self-improvement, and pushing through obstacles no matter how tough a situation may be.
