Lorna Wu is currently a 3rd year Quantitative Economics major and plans to double minor in Accounting and Public Health in the University of California, Irvine. When she first entered UC Irvine, she had planned to major in Quantitative Economics and minor in studio art. However, after much deliberation, she decided that she disliked the idea of being graded on her artistic expression. Now art remains a hobby.

Career-wise, Lorna is still undecided and is open to almost anything financial related. It was partly this uncertainty that led her to pledge for Delta Sigma Pi during the Spring of 2011, and she has not regretted this decision ever since. The Fraternity has opened her eyes to even more opportunities, and believes this experience to be invaluable. At the moment, Lorna holds the position of Director of Fundraising. Currently she hopes to begin interviewing in hopes for a professional internship to further expand her horizons.

In addition to the Fraternity, Lorna has always been passionate about the American Cancer Society, and hopes that one day her career, whatever it may be, will bring her back to the non-profit. During high school, she volunteered over 2 years at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop, a non-retail store that resells donated items to raise funds for cancer research. Even after beginning college, she goes back to her hometown during break to volunteer. She has also joined the Colleges against Cancer club here on campus, and has held a sponsorship/fundraising position. She loves the people and their commitment to fighting cancer, and has thoroughly enjoyed the experience of helping to coordinate UC Irvine’s own Relay for Life held at the end of every April. She is looking forward to the new academic year and plans to make this year’s Relay for Life even more amazing. Up to date, she has attended over 4 Relay for Life, and encourages everybody to attend at least one in their lifetime.

On the side, Lorna loves to read, especially fiction novels such as the Harry Potter series, “Airborn”, “Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell”, and “The Alchemist”. It was also her love for Lord of the Rings that made her decision to dorm at Middle Earth during her freshmen year. Although she secretly hoped to be placed into either Isengard or Rivendell, it was not meant to be and she was put into Harrowdale, a land generally consisting of humans and half-elves. Nevertheless, Lorna loved her 1st year at UC Irvine, not only because she was able to “live” in Middle Earth, but also because it allowed her the opportunity to play quidditch. Lorna loves UC Irvine and is grateful for all the opportunities it has offered her thus far.
