Kathy Vu is a third year Business Administration major with an emphasis in Marketing and a minor in Digital Arts due to her budding passion in Advertising and Design. Kathy was born in Tempe, Arizona, but when she was younger, her parents decided to move to California. They chose the interestingly cultured streets of San Jose.
In high school, Kathy was actively involved in school activities. By her senior year of high school, she was president of the Vietnamese Student Association, Officer of Hours for the National Honor society, Co-Captain of the Varsity tennis team and she also played Varsity Badminton, and was heavily involved in school activities. The first job she ever had was working at the retail store, Aeropostale, with her best friend.
Kathy’s interest in design began in high school where she first taught herself to use Photoshop; from there she realized her interest in all aspects of design: fashion, interior, and graphic. What interests her most about marketing is learning about the human psyche and the reasons behind why they do things. Kathy is more of a listener and tries to understand people. She is pretty awkward.
Family is the most important aspect of Kathy’s life. Being raised in a strict and traditional Vietnamese/ Chinese family has taught her the values of life and the little things that matter. She is also a big music junkie. Her favorite kind of music is dubstep, but she also loves to listen to underground artists, R&B, Hip Hop, the occasional Rap, and whatever else catches her attention. One of her many favorite past times is to sleep but she also likes to eat and try new types of food that she’s never eaten before. Her dream is to travel the world; going to every continent and region possible, even Antartica. She loves the idea of learning about a new culture and seeing how their life differs from everything she’s been raised with.
Kathy is a passionate and sensitive individual. She’s always been a hopeless romantic and that’s always shaped how she viewed the world and life in general. Of course, she loves those sappy movies (A Walk to Remember). Since pledging for Delta Sigma Pi and being initiated into the fraternity, Kathy has learned a lot about herself. Pledging was one of the best and worst things that she has ever been through and she never regrets a second of it. She’s met such amazing people and has developed herself professionally. Currently she is a Marketing/ Public Relations intern for WATG (Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo), a design and architecture firm located in Irvine.
